Your Writer's Notebook

As a writer, you never know when you'll be inspired. It could be by someone you meet, a building you visit, a scene you witness, or something that just pops randomly into your head.

It's a good idea to have a notebook to keep with you at all times so you can quickly make a note of anything you think you could use in your writing, such as:

  • a description
  • a piece of overheard dialogue
  • the actions or reactions of people meeting, or arguing
  • sounds
  • smells

... and so on.

It doesn't have to be anything fancy or expensive. Just something small enough to carry with you. Oh, and a pen!

If you prefer, you could use a note-keeping app on your phone, or even record audio notes. Just remember to store them safely in one place once you're home, and/or have an automatic cloud backup facility.
